UFC 237 preview and predictions

On a night featuring plenty of top Brazilian talent, Rose Namajunas will defend the UFC women’s strawweight championship in the main event of UFC 237, taking on Jessica Andrade.
For the first time in 13 months, the UFC women’s strawweight championship will be defended, and it will be on the line in a pay-per-view’s main event bout for the first time ever, as UFC 237 takes place on May 11 from the Rio Olympic Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In the headline attraction, Rose Namajunas will make her second defense of the UFC’s 115-pound championship, the first time she’s fighting since her pair of bouts with Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Namajunas upset Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217 with a first-round stoppage to win the title before defeating her in a UFC 223 rematch. Namajunas’ challenger will be Brazil’s own Jessica Andrade, who knocked out Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 228 to earn this title shot.
The UFC 237 co-main event will have Jared Cannonier look to advance up the UFC middleweight rankings after upsetting David Branch in his division debut at UFC 230. His opponent will be the legendary former longtime champion Anderson Silva, who has officially won just one of his last seven bouts.
The event will also feature another Brazilian UFC star in former longtime featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who will take part in what is presumed to be the second-to-last bout of his career. Aldo, who defeated Renato Moicano in February, faces Alexander Volkanovski, who comes in off his major UFC 232 win over former title challenger Chad Mendes.
The UFC 237 preliminary card will be headlined by Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (aka Little Nog) facing Ryan Spann, along with the likes of Bethe Correia, B.J. Penn, Clay Guida and Sergio Moraes in action.
This article will look at the five main card bouts and predict who will come out on top.
